Turn everything up and the house is simply, thoroughly lit.

Bright, even white light around the roofline reaches the places a single porch bulb never does: the far side of the driveway, the path along the garage, the step down from the deck that everybody forgets is there. In January, when you are carrying groceries across ice at half past five in the afternoon, that is worth having.

It is useful for the ordinary evening things. Finding the lock. Seeing who is at the door before you open it. Backing a trailer in. Letting the dog out and actually being able to see the dog.

Set it to come on at dusk at a comfortable level and keep the bright setting for when you want it — arriving home late, a delivery you are expecting, or a yard full of people at a barbecue that has run past sunset.
